History & Background / Dossier[edit]
Originally settled during the Rule of Man as a mining colony, this world was a major source of minerals and industrial products for the cluster, selling ore and goods through the trade port at Igmigi. Industry on Shurril Gami was an important factor in keeping the cluster a viable economic entity well into the Long Night.
Imperial High / Landed Nobility[edit]
Shurril Gami, as a member world of the Third Imperium has a member of the Imperial Nobility overseeing the world.
World Starport[edit]
Shurril Gami has a Class C Starport, an average quality installation which includes amenities including unrefined fuel for starships, some brokerage services for passengers and cargo, and a variety of ship provisions. There is a shipyard capable of doing maintenance and other kinds of repair. Ports of this classification generally have only a downport, unless this is a trade port or system with an hostile environment mainworld.
The Downport is built on the remains of a Sydite installation dating to the Sydymic Empire.
Population[edit]
90,000,000
World Demographics[edit]
- Human (Imperial mainstream), 60%
- Sydite, 40%
Urbanization[edit]
Conditions in the settlements are generally good; the Miners' and Support Workers' Union is popular, salaries are high, and the miners spend a lot of money which keeps other people in business. Away from populous areas, the world is undeveloped. Some areas are too hostile for commercial mining of the sort practiced here -- workers would have to accept much harsher conditions, and that would require far greater salaries. Prospecting teams have mapped out deposits in the badlands, but so far there has been little interest in setting up an extraction operation.
World Technology Level[edit]
Shurril Gami possesses a Technology Level of TL–9.
- Common Communication technologies for this TL include: Fiber optics and satellite communication and data networks.
- Common Power Generation technologies for this TL include: Early fusion power.
- Common Transportation technologies for this TL include:
- Land: Ultra high-speed trains and early grav vehicles.
- Water: High efficiency sailcraft, multihulled seacraft, improved artificial gills.
- Air: Tiltrotorcraft, exotic VTOL's, PARWIG, and rocket-assisted suborbitals.
- Space: SSTO spacecraft, early military spacecraft (System Craft), and interstellar STL starships
- FTL: Prototype Jump Drive-1.
World Government[edit]
Shurril Gami is governed by a Charismatic Oligarchy, like a charismatic dictatorship in that a larger group has asserted their right to rule. The group will have better rules of succession and may last longer or may transition to a non-charismatic dictatorship.
Specifically, Shurril Gami is ruled by the Miners' and Support Workers' Union, whose executives are in theory elected but in practice selected by those already in power. Regardless, the Union is popular with the workers and even with the mine owners.

World Timeline[edit]
- Long Night: Shurril Gama is important to maintaining some degree of interstellar society in its cluster.
- Realizing that the economic slump of the Long Night is only going to get worse, the firm Wadstone Industrial begins to shift its emphasis from heavy industrial equipment to space vessels.
- In time, the Sydymic Empire claims the world.
- Under Sydite rule, Shurril Gami is again an industrial centre, albeit a very minor one. Shipbuilding is curtailed, though the world becomes a manufacturing centre for military equipment including missiles and small arms.
- Several thousand Sydites settle on Shurril Gami, mainly as garrison and workers in the new armament factories.
- 640-672: The Third Imperium, its fleets returning to trailing Ley Sector after the Civil War, regain territory the Sydites have claimed in their absence. A general assault on all Sydite territories takes place.
- When the Imperials arrived on Shurril Gami in 672, the Sydite population are given a choice between Imperial citizenship and a one-way ticket to any Sydite world that will take them.
- 675: With news of the fall of their homeworld, the Sydymic Empire unravels.
